Once upon a time in this beautiful country, our government had all the tools required to protect the livelihood of its people, from import restrictions to price controls, our dollar was strong and burglar bars were not invented until things took a turn for the worse in the 80s when restrictions on the importation of fruits and vegetables were relaxed for a paltry World Bank loan, thus allowing the first foot in the door for the purveyors of globalisation.

Today, no argument is required, as Jamaicans who are old enough, can make the comparison, then and now but the current Brexit excitement is a direct result of the British having enough of an experiment that lumps rich and poor countries together with free movement of people and goods, with the promise of prosperity for all, oh yeah!

The British want back their country, which is their right and we had better take heed, as our country’s economy has been hijacked by Foreign Direct Investment, at the same time we are losing our teachers in droves, because we cannot afford to pay them properly, so who will suffer in the long run? Come on now!
