As We See It

ARE WE MAKING A MOCKERY OF RELIGION?

The recent court case whereby a popular Jamaican Pastor was convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice, has once again put the spotlight on persons engaged in religious activities and the need to establish clear boundaries beyond which practitioners must not cross.

What is most disconcerting about this case are the judge’s comments about the testimony of this pastor being less than candid and in effect unbecoming of someone, who each and every week, influences the lives of many people.  Is it any wonder that the moral decay of our society seems to be accelerating?

Whither thou goeth, religious expression in this country?  Are we witnessing the kind of hustle that is so pervasive in our society?  Ever  wonder why Jamaicans are becoming increasingly skeptical with the passing of each day?  What is driving the commercialisation of religion in this country?  This glorification of hustling does not look or feel good.
