Molested

Dear Andrea,

I am 13 years old and my mom works from six o’clock in the morning to ten o’clock in the night. In between these times, I go to school at eight o’clock and return home at three o’clock. My mom’s boyfriend stays with me until she comes home from work.

Dear Andrea,

I am 13 years old and my mom works from six o’clock in the morning to ten o’clock in the night. In between these times, I go to school at eight o’clock and return home at three o’clock. My mom’s boyfriend stays with me until she comes home from work.

I am scared to stay with him, because he touches me at places where I am not comfortable. I told my mother everything that happened, but she beats me every time I mention it to her.

Who can I run to for help? Who can I tell the problems that I am facing at home? I want to run away, but I have nowhere to go. Please help me.

Molested

Dear Molested,

I am saddened to hear of you situation, one that is becoming only too common. It makes no sense for you to run away as there are too many perverted men out there who think they have a right to prey on young girls. This man should be disciplined for molesting you and you mother needs to understand that she has a responsibility to protect you.

You need to speak with you guidance counsellor or an adult you can trust about what is happening so that they can contact the Child Development Agency, they have the statutory responsibility for children who are in need of care and protection. They can be contacted at 1-888-PROTECT (1-888-7768328)

You are special and need to be able to explore your full potential without being scared by this man.

Andrea
